GIN GIN : Grenoble Institute of Neuroscience
Grenoble Institut of the Neurosciences have for mission to study, to understand and to look after the brain. His teams thus lead basic research in neurosciences with a multidisciplinary approach to develop new therapeutic strategies for up to here incurable neurological, psychiatric or neuromuscular disorders. By the supervision of PhD students and students, the GIN contributes also actively to the training of next generation of neuroscientists and neuroclinicians. By its activities of research and formation, the GIN stands out as a center of excellence in the field of the neurosciences, at the local, national and international levels.
UGA Université Grenoble Alpes
Université Grenoble Alpes is currently a COMUE (Communauté d’universités et d’établissements / Association of universities and higher education institutions) created by governmental decree on December 31st 2014. It has 6 members and 4 associated institutions. Université Grenoble Alpes extends throughout the alpine corridor, from Valence to Annecy, bringing together the higher education and research establishments (universities, grandes écoles, research bodies, and university teaching hospital) from all over the French Alps territory. UGA’s mission is to achieve excellence in undergraduate and graduate education, research, innovation and public service. The university provides superior and comprehensive educational opportunities at all levels, from batchelor to PhD, to students and professionals. UGA contributes to the advancement of society and nation through creative activity, development of new knowledge, innovation and public service to the society.
Inserm INSERM : National Institute of Health and Medical Research
Founded in 1964, the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (Inserm) is a public scientific and technological institute which operates under the joint authority of the French Ministry of Health and French Ministry of Research. As the only French public research institute to focus entirely on human health, in 2008 Inserm took on the responsibility for the strategic, scientific and operational coordination of biomedical research. This key role as coordinator comes naturally to Inserm thanks to the scientific quality of its teams and its ability to conduct translational research, from the laboratory to the patient’s bed.
NeuroCoG NeuroCoG : From neuron to networks, from cognition to social interaction
The NeuroCoG project aims to understand the biological, neurophysiological and functional bases of behavioral and cognitive processes in normal and pathological conditions, from cells to networks and from individual to social cognition. NeuroCoG is based on a wide-spectrum interdisciplinary approach (e.g. fundamental and cognitive neuroscience, chemistry, physics, cognitive and social psychology, education, language sciences, computer sciences, applied mathematics, and engineering; as well as clinical specialties such as neurology and psychiatry). NeuroCoG will deliver significant findings for basic research, clinical applications and socio-economic impact.
 Métro-Grenoble  Grenoble-Alpes Métropole
Grenoble-Alpes Métropole is responsible for several missions, from the organization of the territory through management of common services (water, garbage...), to habitat, economic development, protection of the environment...
ecole_doctoral.jpg  EDCSV : Doctoral School of Chemistry and Life Sciences of Grenoble
This Doctoral School works with several laboratories in Grenoble which are known for their research activities in the following fields : Cell and molecular biology, structural biology, molecular chemistry, physical chemistry. These laboratories (UJF : UFR de Biologie, Chimie, Médecine, Pharmacie et Physique ; CNRS, INSERM, CEA) are sometimes gathered into federative institute of research (IFR) and they take advantage of the international research institutes which are located in Grenoble (EMBL, ILL et ESRF). The Phd students presently registered with the school receive financial supports from various sources : French ministry of research, Region Rhône-Alpes, French public research organizations, European community, charity foundations, industries.
EDISCE : The Health, Cognition and the Environment PhD Engineering School EDISCE : The Health, Cognition and the Environment PhD Engineering School
The Health, Cognition and the Environment PhD Engineering School trains its students in engineering data acquisition, processing and modelisation with a view to elucidating mechanisms involved in the major functions of living systems: relationship with their environment, cognition (perception and decision) and action (control and effection). Created in 1995, the EDISCE offers the benefits of integrating research teams working on different disciplinary sectors around five major themes: Biotechnologies, instrumentation, signalling and imaging for biology, medicine and the environment (BIS), Models, methods and algorithms in biology, health and the environment (MBS), Cognitive sciences, cognitive psychology, neurocognition (PCN), The engineering of cognition, interaction, learning and creation (CIA), Movement and behaviour in health and autonomy (MCA). EDISCE is one of the thirteen PhD schools in Grenoble and is a component of the Collège Doctoral de l'Université de Grenoble Alpes The EDISCE has around 200 doctorands each year. It manages thesis registrations and allocates Ministry research awards. Doctorands register with the Université de Grenoble Alpes.
